FaithBeacon ("we," "us," "our") operates a platform that helps people discover and review churches. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: your first name, email address, zip code, and password when you create an account.
- Profile information: optional details like denomination, life stage, home church, and profile avatar.
- Content you create: reviews, beacons, church submissions, and information reports.
- Usage information: pages visited, searches, and actions taken to help us improve the product.
- Location information: if you grant permission, we use your approximate location to find nearby churches. We do not store continuous location data.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the FaithBeacon service
- Send you notifications about reviews, submissions, and beacons
- Personalize your experience (e.g., nearby church suggestions)
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms
- Communicate with you about product updates or support
Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the platform (Supabase for database and auth, Vercel for hosting, Resend for email, Google and Mapbox for maps).
- Other users: your first name, avatar, and reviews are publicly visible within the app.
- Legal authorities, if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Your Choices
- Edit your profile anytime from the Profile page.
- Delete your account from the Profile page. This permanently removes your account, reviews, beacons, and submitted churches.
- Email notifications: you can unsubscribe by contacting us at support@faithbeacon.com.
- Location access: you can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Children's Privacy
FaithBeacon is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by email or through the app. Continued use of FaithBeacon after changes means you accept the updated policy.
